CHOOSE YOUR SHEPARD CAREFULLY
“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:” Deuteronomy 30:19 KJV
A shepherd is one who tends, feeds, and guards the sheep, making sure each one is safe in the fold at night. A shepherd knows every sheep in their fold and the sheep respond only to their shepherd’s voice. The shepherd will tend and guide their sheep with the use of vocal commands, the staff, the rod, and the flute.
Choose carefully where you seek guidance. As written in Psalm 23:1 “The LORD is my Shepherd.” God alone is our source of guidance and to seek guidance through divination rather than through God is to turn our back on Him. We are instructed in 2 Corinthians 6:17 KJV, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,”
The devil seems to offer a counterfeit to all of the pure things of God. If you choose any other guide than God Himself, it will be the stumbling block that turns your heart toward the world.
In today’s society it seems widely acceptable to seek guidance from other worldly sources. They are easy to find and convenient to access. Horoscopes are in newspapers, weight machines, and in small scrolls of paper next to most checkout registers. Physics, fortune-tellers, tea leaves, tarot cards, or Ouija boards are sought out for false destinies. They are available by internet, television, or just a phone call away. These are all counselors of the lost and the rebellious who seek heartbreak, disappointment, spiritual destruction and spiritual death.
Although we may need to engage a healthy dose of patience with our faith, for seldom does God give us an answer as fast as a fortune-telling vending machine can spew out a slip of paper, we must stand firm on what we know about our God.
Hold fast to the things of God and do not dabble in the things of the world. What God calls sin the world will call “acceptable”. Do not allow yourself to be mislead. Do not place your hope in the empty promises of the world, but place your hope in the promise of Christ. Seek God Only !
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2 KJV
